SCOPE: As an Engineer Process Technician at E-ONE you will be responsible for supporting Designers and Engineers develop world-class, robust engineering solutions to the Fire Apparatus industry, from research and development, through design, test & evaluation of systems installed on Fire Trucks that save lives all around the world. The Engineering Techician is also responsible for production support on all stages of manufacturing, also aftermarket care and warranty support. The Engineer Process Technician at E-ONE is the liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing and is relied upon by other employees and customers for communicating solutions and support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Product Development Support:

o Assist with solving technical problems in research and development, manufacturing, supply chain, and testing.

o Assist with communicating set parameters of electrical systems and/or controls.

o Assist with troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems within production environment.

o Communicate and facilitate the practical use of drawing and drafting standards.

o Hands on support for prototyping & testing of components/systems as outlined by Engineers.

o Assist in setting up testing equipment, conducting experiments, and collecting data and document results.

o Collect documentation of testing requirements as defined by Designers and Engineers.

o Assist in design work, using CAD and other Engineering software systems to create sales documentation.

o Assist with updating BOMs in adherence to company standards within Product Configurator

o Involvement in manufacturing processes and capabilities to improve engineering designs to fit within process capabilities.

o Assis with providing guidance and awareness of regulatory standards - NFPA, DOT, ULC etc.

o Involvement and use of lean principles as they apply to engineering continuous improvement processes.

o Assist with problem solving from issue identification to root cause resolution.

o Initiate and process engineering changes through established procedures and documentation.

o Communicate short term resolution for design / BOM issues to avoid production delays with guidance from engineering staff.

o Act as liaison between production process and engineering.

o Communicate design/BOM issues with recommendations to appropriate team members for long term resolution.

o Review & compare sales documentation for accuracy.

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Ad-hoc production line or customer support as needed to maintain operational flow or resolve specific customer problems.

* Multimeter, electronic test equipment (Oscilloscope)

POSITION EXPECTATIONS:

Proper use of PPE; use only defect-free equipment. Promote safety in the department. Use proper lifting techniques and overhead hoist when needed. Maintain clean and safe working environment in line with 5-S Philosophy. Participate in hazardous communication training and safety meetings.

2. QUALITY: Responsible for the quality of work. This requires defect-free work and understanding of the requirements of the company's quality system as it pertains to job duties and responsibilities. Must be able to check work to ensure conformance to process control instructions, specifications, and quality standards. Identify and segregate non-conforming products. Identify the need for and assist in initiating and implementing corrective and preventive actions when appropriate.

3. FLEXIBILITY: Able and willing to work in other areas as needed. Must be flexible in taking lunch and breaks when workflow requires. Willing to work additional hours as necessary.

4. INITIATIVE: Actively participate in continuous improvement of products and processes to better serve customers and improve the overall profitability of E-ONE. Actively seek out work in other areas when the current assignment is complete. Make suggestions for improving product quality, processes, safety, and company profitability.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

* 3-5 years' experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.

* Must have detailed knowledge of manufacturing processes, especially Automotive or Commercial Trucks manufacturing, with emphasis on circuit and electrical diagnosis.

* High school diploma

* Knowledge of Microsoft Office, SharePoint

* Knowledge of CAD systems - Pro-E and/or Auto CAD

* Knowledge of NFPA, DOT, FMVSS, NEC standards and ISO guidelines.

* Knowledge of Automotive CAN-Communication multiplexing technology, and programming.

* Thorough understanding of circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic test equipment (Oscilloscope, etc.).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
