POSITION TITLE

Lab Technician, Fine Chemical Products

POSITION OVERVIEW

This hourly position is part of the Fine Chemicals Business. The role provides chemical laboratory support for the development of new products and applications as well as the support of currently manufactured products. The position is located at our Research and Development laboratory in Gainesville FL. Hours of work are typically Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, but flex time is permitted as well.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Chemical synthesis of new target molecules
  • Work with Chemists and/or Engineers and assist in the design and assembly of laboratory and pilot systems
  • Detailed record keeping
  • Organization of samples and the overall laboratory
  • Maintain clean and safe work environments
  • Work effectively with members of a team to achieve project targets and deadlines
  • Organize and effectively communicate results (reports, tables, charts)
  • Promote safety as a general behavior and participate faithfully in all safety initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

  • BS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering,or related technical field or 5 years of relevant work experience. Preferred 3 years of experience in development lab.
  • Strong work ethic and good organizational skills
  • Helpful to have experience working in a chemical laboratory setting; including safely handling and mixing chemicals, documenting experiments, and operating analytical equipment
  • Proficient in use of scientific method, critical thinking, and problem solving
  • Ability to follow instructions as well as to work independently
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
